Major of Fatih, Mr. Mustafa Demir says

Animals have the right of life at least as humans and right of life is a sacred right. All animals have the right to be respected and loved. No animal can be treated with cruelty. Friendship between animals and humans has been continuing since the existence of human beings. They are our friends, companions and sometimes our aides. The way to provide the circumstances for a good living for our animals is to teach our kids to love an animal when they are young.

In Fatih Municipality Yedikule Animal Shelter, 2000 dogs are living. Our volunteers mention that, it is the biggest shelter in Balkan States. Of these dogs, 250 are sick, old, and need help. The manager of our shelter- Meral Olcay’s devotion for work in shelter and with the help of our volunteers thousands of our dogs are living in hygienic and safe conditions.

We cover all basic expenses of Our Shelter and give logistic support. Our volunteers provide materials that are needed at all times including drugs, medical materials, food and blankets.

Animal lovers can adopt an animal living in our shelter and cover all care and food expenses. They visit our shelter on weekends and share time with their dogs. Additionally, there are some animal lovers who voluntarily host a newborn puppy in their homes until it grows to a grown-up dog. The family brings the dog back to shelter after a certain age and they visit him/her on the weekends.

Yedikule Animal Shelter is open to all visitors. You can come and love our dogs as you like and live the animal love.  At the same time, you can make the dogs share their love and attention for human beings.

Let’s protect our animals together. Human beings have a moral responsibility for all living creatures. We work in Yedikule Animal Shelter with this motive and try to protect our animals and assure their right of life. In our animal shelter, approximately 1700 animals are living and they are protected with the efforts of Architect, Meral Olcay. I invite you all to our animal shelter to protect our animals and teach our kids to love an animal when they are young.
