Paralyzed Dogs

19. March 2010

WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR THE PARALYSED DOGS?

A very young puppy neutered, ripped off his earing. Instead of leaving the dog to his
neighbourhood after rehabilitating which is the fundamental duty of the municipalities, they
left hundreds of dogs to the woods of Istanbul and these dogs fight for their lives. Most of
them lost this war at the beginning of their lives.

The woods of the years 2000 are like the versions in the tragedy of the unfaithful island.
It is so meaningless. The most domestic, friendly living creatures of the world are thrown in
the woods as they are wild animals.

They try to survive with the foods which some animal lovers give once or twice a week.
They naturally have the risk crushed under a truck to get that food.
The doggy in the photo we named KARAM, has the same destiny.
An animal lover rescues him and brings him here to yedikule shelter. When we ask him why
he came to a shelter far away from the accident, he says WE TRUST YOU as usual
.
And I am asking WHOM WILL WE TRUST? We wrote that we are out of stock for 4 days. We
need milk, pasta, food and other stuff and nobody answered. (Only 9 people responded in 4
days) Only people calling themselves animal lovers
whom I, as a person having mercy and conscience, accepted their dogs to Yedikule give
support to us, our storages were full of food, milk, etc.
Some people have fish memory.

They forget easily. However, we care the dogs they abondoned and WE CANNOT FORGET.
How can we forget when they ask for food, medicine, love or cleaning. They never let them
to be forgotten.

I believe that we, Yedikule volunteers should not be the only ones.
Everybody can do something, just want to do it.
Poor KARAM who was crushed under a car for a piece of food was in shock and first aid
treatment was done immediately.
When we saw him alive next morning, we sent him to the clinic for x-ray and other
investigations.

Unfortunately, his spine was broken. He can move his forearms but legs were paralysed.
Karam was another paralysed dog.

So what should I do? It is not my problem or I am only responsible for my own district.
We have full capacity, take care of yourself. Are these more suitable words? I guess so .
I am sorry but noone will left the dogs to Yedikule anymore becuse my answer will be NO.

Paralyzed Frodo found new home

Paralyzed Frodo found new home

Our paralysed boy Frodo found a home. His mother Tuğba fell in love with him at first sight. It was not important for her that he was paralysed. She did not hesitate one moment even if
she knew the difficulties. Frodo is given special care as Princess our girl before.

Sensitive people hearing our calls for help are increasing and it makes Yedikule family happy. Frodo was with us for 4 years and we got used to him. Shortly, we feel a bittersweet joy when
our animals which we give love, efforts find happy homes.

I say bittersweet because there occurs a bound even if you feed them once. We may call it both happiness and sorrow, however happiness is the dominant one. We have dogs on the line waiting for special care, a warm home with one legged or paralysed.

We hope the best for them and thank Tugba again.

ooo bella oooo

I have mentioned about our poor Bella before, but now we are happy for her. Our girl with
paralysed back legs is now standing on her feet.
We hopefully continue her treatment with (glucosamin ,benoxol etc .)
Our girl Bella can stand for a short time on her feet and eats her food. She was very sick
when she came here. She had diarrhea. While we treat her diarrhea, she got flu a few days
later. She had cold on the streets. The treatment for pneumonia makes her better now. We
need ampisid 1gr,epargrisevit amp for Bella and we wait for your support.

Thanks for Father Mehmet and Mother Aylin

Our friend Mehmet and Aylin made beautiful carriages for our paralysed dogs. Frodo or
Karaca are now very happy as they have new carriages they could easily use. The next one
waiting on the line is Silver, then Findikcan, Mavis, Beyaz and the others. Our special thanks
to our mother Zeynep as she introduced us with Mehmet and his wife Aylin.
